Life on the Frontier!

Every fall, we eagerly anticipate an area Pioneer festival.  We were so happy to attend with some pioneer-loving friends this year, and it was a blast as expected!  Oh, and the fact that President Abraham Lincoln was hangin' with the Civil War Band, well, that was pretty cool, too.

Here are Ainsley and our little friend, C., patiently watching Bennett participate in a lengthy spelling bee.  They were still smiles at this point.

Here is Bennett, spelling it up with the best of them.  This was a fine little group of spellers.  The judge could not stump any of them.  And oddly enough, Bennett won the contest by incorrectly spelling the word.  Long story short, the judge was confused, I think, but it was all good and the kids had fun.



And here is the first of several sideways pictures.  Blogger friends, if you are reading this and you know how I can fix this problem, please tell me!  Here is Bennett with the ribbon and the 3 coin dollars she won (sort of) at the spelling bee!

We enjoyed a couple of wagon rides...one with a team of horses and one pulled by a team of mules.  We learned some cool facts about mules, and Ainsley and C. both got a chance to help drive the mules!  Sweet deal.  Oh, the perks of being little and cute.

 Ah, just another day on the prairie...
